While there is a pseudo Bill of Lading application within the Order
Entry application of Macola, it does not address all of the functionality needed by most users. We did
not want to modify Macola directly, so we wrote Multi Order Bill of
Lading in Visual Basic and read Macola’s data
files as needed.
Our first, and still available, release of Bill of Lading application gives the user the ability to select an order and then
select the line items within that order that make up the shipment. The
newest release of M.O.B.O.L. version 2.0 is a culmination
of interviewing both customers and Solutions Providers. Everyone spoken with expressed the need to
select multiple orders for a single Bill of Lading. We have addressed this need and
this option is available in Version 2.0.
You still do not have to select all line items in order to create a bill of lading. You have the
added ability
to select only those items being shipped on each individual order. Our design also incorporates the maintenance
of a separate file in order to maintain a Bill of Lading Log for audit purposes. One of the very critical
functions of this application is the ability to reselect, correct, and reprint a Bill of Lading easily.
There are two ways of being able to handle calculations. You can incorporate pallet and weight or units and weight.
When using pallets, the program keeps up with the total number of pallets and utilizes the tare weight
calculations as needed. This application becomes an icon on your desktop and can be run by anyone in your
shipping and customer service departments.
